Twitter launches its official BlackBerry app; acquires Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client

Twitter for BlackBerry app will come with real-time BlackBerry push of Twitter direct messages. According to Twitter's official blog, the key features of Twitter app for BlackBerry include:Camera and photo gallery integrationBrowser integration for Tweeting linksCustomizable interface for changing fonts, hiding tool bars, etc.Search for users, content, and trending topicsLocalized for French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Brazilian PortugueseTwitter for BlackBerry app and can be downloaded for free at blackberry.com/twitter.In another significant advancement, Twitter acquired Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client. Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks. The company also plans to eventually launch Twitter for iPad in the coming days.
