HTC chose its latest device name through a Facebook poll page in which it invited visitors to vote on its upcoming device name. The other contenders were the HTC Zeal, HTC Festi and HTC Jovi.The HTC Wildfire is primarily targeted at students with its social networking features. The device comes with HTC's Friend Stream app to display content from social networks. Another social networking feature comes in the form of Wildfire's ID display that shows Facebook profile, photo and latest update of users' friends when they call.The Wildfire closely resembles HTC Desire; however, it runs on Android 2.1 operating system with the newest version of HTC Sense UI. The smartphone is enabled with Wi-Fi and GPS. It offers 1300mAh battery capacity and optical joystick.Equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, the Wildfire displays a 3.2-inch QVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen but slightly slower 528 MHz processor. The other key features of this device include 3.5mm audio jack, MicroUSB charging port, App sharing and improved Facebook integration.The HTC Wildfire is slated to be released in Europe, Q3 2010.
