The much-rumoured BlackBerry tablet device, earlier known as BlackPad, has now finally been shown to the world. RIM President Mike Lazaridis presented the BlackBerry PlayBook at the Developer's Conference. The device is expected to reach stores by early 2011The new BlackBerry tablet device sports two dual cameras with the ability to play 1080p video via an HDMI out port; a 3-megapixel front facing and a 5-megapixel rear facing camera. The 9.7mm thick BlackBerry PlayBook features a 7-inch screen, 1GHz dual-core multi-processing and 1GB of RAM.Launching the tablet, Mike Lazaridis, RIM's co-CEO said, "The BlackBerry PlayBook solidly hits the mark with industry leading power, true multitasking, uncompromised web browsing and high performance multimedia." As reported earlier, the BlackBerry PlayBook runs a new OS from QNX Software. QNX became a part of RIM earlier this year and its open platform operating system is deployed across many business sectors.The PlayBook will be available in 3G and 4G variants in the later stages and it will be preloaded with HTML5 support, Flash 10.1, Adobe Air and Java applications.The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is slated to hit the shelves in Q1 2011.
