With the rapidly changing mobile technology, it does not come as a surprise that we all seem to be looking out for the newest and the latest devices that capture our imagination and provide us various avenues to experience media and interaction. This year specially will be big for not only the tech fans and consumers but also for the tablets which are slowly relegating the smart phones to the number 2 status. Stephen Bates, RIM’s UK MD was quoted by Tech-Radar, as "we're all now used to having smartphones and the instantaneous appeal of social interaction, but now we're looking for more from our devices – more media and more consumption." He said, “"demand is being met by smartphones for now, but the form factor isn't ideal. we're going to see a change in behaviour; the tablet is going to come in as a media device and we're going to see the smartphone drifting back to pure communications." We don't if that is how it will turn out for the smartphones, but we definitely know how RIM sees the future : Phones for social networking, texting and calling and tablets for media, video, books and web browsing. Maybe there can be a common ground like the Galaxy S II or the Motorola Atrix.
