HTC Wildfire forays into the Indian market with a bouquet of features

HTC Corporation and Reliance Communications signed a partnership for launching the HTC Wildfire in India. The 3G ready phone comes with a HTC Sense UI and runs on the Android 2.1 platform. “Social networks have really caught on the fancy of today’s young generation, who like to stay seamlessly connected with each other even while on-the-go,” said Mr. Ajay Sharma, Country Head, and HTC India. The handset integrates different social networking platforms and is packed with a broad array of features such as HTML web browser, Wi-Fi, text messaging, email, support for phone, caller ID, light sensor and an optical joystick, digital compass, G-sensor and Proximity sensor. “We are proud to further our association with a telecom leader like Reliance Communications who share our commitment of ushering in the latest innovation for Indian mobile phone user”, Ajay added. In addition, the handset includes a media player with a slot for expandable memory, FM radio, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus LED flash and a 3.2 inch touch screen. HTC Wildfire is powered by the Qualcomm MSM7225-1, 528 MHz processor and uses Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate, for establishing connectivity. Users can install and download various applications from the Android market.With a 1300 mAh battery, the device provides talk time of about 8 hours with standby time of about 480 hours. “The launch of HTC Wildfire is in line with our strategy to offer next-generation service on mobile phones enabled with superior voice clarity, hi-speed wireless data network access and ultra-fast application downloads to Reliance Mobile customers”, said Mr. Mahesh Prasad President Marketing – Wireless Business, Reliance Communications. “Empowering Reliance Mobile customers to access work and personal information on the move in addition to a host of fun applications, the feature-rich HTC Wildfire is a powerful Android powered 3G smartphone which will protect customers’ interest in the mobile phone once the 3G network and services are launched by RCOM,” Mr. Prasad added. Subsequently, GSM customers of Reliance Communications can obtain up to 500 MB of free data access on a monthly basis for six months. The unlocked version of the smartphone will be available for sale across all authorized HTC resellers within India in the price band of about Rs. 17,000.
