Apple announced that it would provide a free bumper case to all existing and new iPhone 4 users to resolve the much-hyped reception problem. For those, who already bought a case, would be entitled for reimbursement. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said that the company was aware about the reception issues associated with the phone during testing but didn't anticipated it to become a major issue as it was a common problem faced by smartphones. He further accepted that the new device was not perfect and the new buyers would receive a full refund if the device fails to deliver. The move would enable Apple to launch iPhone 4 internationally without any further challenges, thereby offsetting their negative coverage. The free bumper case offer would be valid until September 30, 2010. Apple said that the main problem lies with the software and not the antenna.Apple frontman played a video of its competing phones such as Blackberry, which too lost signal strength upon holding in different ways. However, reports state that covering the spot with a duct tape and a case would alleviate the reception problem.
