Samsung has confirmed that its Galaxy S handset will be getting the Android 2.3 update in March

The Samsung Galaxy S will be getting the Android 2.3 update in March, bringing the device inline with competitors like the Google Nexus S. Whether or not Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will remain on the Samsung Galaxy S remains to be seen – although we can’t really see Samsung ditching it. News of the update comes via Samsung’s official Hub, so the ball is well and truly rolling on this one. Once the update is live, Samsung Galaxy S users will begin benefiting from copy and paste, a new keyboard, better battery life, VoIP support and some minor bug fixes, as well as a few cosmetic changes. All in all, this is a pretty speedy turnaround and it’s nice to see Samsung looking out for its older customers, instead of just merely pressing on with the Samsung Galaxy S II. New to Galaxy S II?
