A Sony Ericsson device known as Xperia Arco has been leaked. It appears that Arco is a rebranded version of the Xperia Acr which was unveiled by the Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker at CES this January.
While there is no information on the exact specification, if it bears similar specs like that of Arc it is likely to consist of 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 4.2-inch touchscreen, and an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera. Arc comes with a 4.2” reality display with Sony Mobile BRAVIA® Engine, which Arco might be sporting too.
What we do know is that the device comes with a NFC support, TV Tuner and infrared capabilities, something we belive are a definite must haves for the smartphones in japan.
Like the latest Xperia device, the new smartphone is expected to run on Google's Android operating system, though at this point it is uncertain whether it will be the froyo or the gingerbread.
As far as the carriers are concerned, it seemed Arco will be hitching a ride with NTT DOCOMO or KDDI, or perhaps both targeting both the GSM and CMDA market.
It seems that Sony Ericsson is getting ready to launch Arco in japan in May or June. We will be able to gather more information about the device and other specs details and how closely does it actually resemble its cousin Arc then.
