Apple OS X Lion’s highly usual UI feature ‘Spaces’ is one step closer to featuring on the iPad. Spaces will provide the users the ability to just touch one button and switch to another application, for e.g moving from safari to pages. The use of spaces is also not limited to just switching back and forth between application but to a host of scenarios which include image editing, drawing, presenting, word processing, website creating, just to name a few.

Spaces on iPad will work by creating a ‘plurality of workspace views’ that the user can assign apps to, then close, and open another workspace view and do the same, and so on.
In short, the user can build up workspaces on the iPad, load them with applications, and switch between them by using multi-finger gesturing.According to the figures in the report, activating these Spaces will be done via a pinching multi-finger gesture in the corner of the display.

According to Patently Apple, ‘The USPTO has revealed a patent that shows that Apple to bringing Spaces to the iPad. In fact, if you look closely in one patent graphic, you may actually be getting a sneak peek of OS X Lion on iPad.’
