While it has been on the cards for sometimes now, the news of the Samsung Galaxy S II 1.2GHz processor upgrade has finally been confirmed, officially.
The Samsung Galaxy S II will now be shipping with a 1.2GHz dual core processor, instead of the originally planned 1GHz Tegra 2 CPU. Samsung has been tweaking its devices quite a bit lately. Just last month the company confirmed that it will be releasing a thinner version of its Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 after seeing the iPad 2. So, is Samsung’s choice to upgrade the Galaxy S II’s processor to 1.2GHz for the same reason? Does Samsung know something about the iPhone 5 that we don’t? Quite possibly – or could it just be that Samsung is getting ultra-competitive in its old age.
Either way, the upgrade is now official. It was confirmed on Samsung’s Estonian Facebook page first and then seconded by Samsung UK.The only issue that remains unclear at the moment is what type of CPU Samsung be replacing the Tegra 2 with. Will it simply be an over-clocked Tegra 2 set up, or one of Samsung’s own? Perhaps a second generation Hummingbird CPU.If the latter turns out to be the case, as some reports have suggested, expect some massive improvements in gaming and graphical abilities.
We had reported earlier this month that the Samsung Galaxy SII is expected to hit the Indian markets within this month. Galaxy SII is going to be the world’s slimmest mobile, which is preloaded with numerous latest attributes and specifications. It comprises of a 4.27” Super AMOLED Plus display for a clear view and it works over Android 2.3 Gingerbread. There is also powered by Dual core processor and includes an Android 2.3 with Touchwiz 4.0.
