LG is a renowned electronics global brand, which is doing equally good in mobile phone market in India. The company has recently decided to expand its smartphone's market share, and will start producing the handsets at Pune unit.
Currently the unit is capable to produce eight million handsets and it will increase the production up to 10 million units by 2011-end.
Vishal Chopra, Business Head, Mobile Communication, LG Electronics stated in an interview given to Business Standard “we are looking to grow our share in smartphone market this year and will even launch 10 smartphone models. Manufacturing them in India will be critical in getting them to market faster and managing the costs.”
LG Mobiles is aiming at a turnover of Rs 3,000 crore in 2011 and will sell around 4,50,000 smartphones in India by this year end.
The company is focussing over its smartphone category a lot and presenting excellent handsets like Optimus, at an attractive price range starting from Rs 9,000 to Rs 35,000. By next month LG may launch a 3D smartphone.
Chopra also said “The Optimus 3D phone will have two cameras that will allow users to create their own 3D content. The phone also does not require any special glasses to view the content”.
The company has announced its first Dual Core Processor smartphone, LG Optimus 2X in India, which is priced at Rs 30,000. Moreover, it is also planning to offer cheap data plans with the LG smartphone range.
Besides, the known brand is also planning to develop a 20-member team to handle the development of the softwares and mobile applications for its upcoming smartphones and feature phones.
