Sony Ericsson users will be either happy or totally unhappy with Sony Ericsson's latest move of replacing the 'My apps' option with a dedicated channel link. The service as of now is operator dependent which means that not all the users will be able to see this dedicated channel on their phones.

The plan is to gradually roll out to all, but we guess they are testing waters and reactions of their customers base. While the "My Apps” option in Android Market is replaced, it has not been removed. You can access the “My Apps” option by pressing  the menu key.

Sony Ericsson on Android market

The news which came via the Sony Ericsson blog said, "today we’ve launched our very own channel in Android Market. We’re the first mobile phone manufacturer to do this and are really excited to see what we will be able to use it for. We will use this channel for many things, as a starting point this is our plan:

- Provide recommendations to help you find the best games & apps that enhance your Sony Ericsson ‘most entertaining’ experience.
- Provide a way to easily find original apps from Sony Ericsson such as Timescape plugins etc.
- From time to time offer exclusive games & apps only available in this channel.
- Help our developer partners promote their apps & games giving them a highlighted market space to our consumers."

The channel aims to enhance the user experience by offering various suggestions and guide to finding apps best suited for the individual needs. The channel also aims to be a resource for the users by helping them find other things they are unable to locate. The initiative is definitely a unique one and with the recent launches of Xperia play and Xperia Arc in the Indian market, it looks SE is creating more value added options to lure users to its Xperia line.

How the channel does and whether it will be an added value to the Sony Ericsson or not we will soon find out.
