Exclusive hands on review of upcoming Micromax Q80 push email mobile phone

Published on Apr 21, 2011

Know your mobile got their hands on the upcoming mobile phone from the Micromax stable, Micromax Q80. Don't ask how we got the handset, let's just say it flew into our laps.

Weighing just 91g without battery, this lightweight dual SIM  black beauty comes enabled with 2G/3G and strapped with two cameras at the front and back. The front camera is 0.3 mega-pixel and the rear camera comes equipped with a 3.0 mega-pixel camera.

So, what's new you would ask? Well Micromax Q80's USP is its own Micromax push email service known as the ez mail. Push email basically pushes your email as it arrives through the 'client', rather than the traditional method which requires the client to poll and pull mail manually.

Micromax Q80 is sleek and has a sturdy built. Sporting a 2.4 TFT QVGA 320*240 screen and a trackpad for swift navigation across various icons, this bluetooth enabled mobile phone also comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and in-built yamaha amplifier ensuring great sound quality. This device is also java enabled, which means that you can load in various applications and games.

We had earlier reviewed Micromax M2 and what we loved about it apart from the free amazing dome headsets that they threw in were their SIM slots. Yes, SIM slots. Unlike other phones where you have to dismantle the whole phone to insert the SIM, M2 had dedicated SIM slots on the top. To our delight we see the same approach in Micromax Q80 too. There are two slots at the back of phone - one dedicated for the SIMs and the other for the battery.

The 1200mAh- Li-ion battery life ensures that you get a battery stand-by time of 130 hours and a talk time of 5 hours. The internal memory is 68 MB, which is expandable upto 8GB. Well we have got all the main areas covered, but knowing Micromax, who knows what more surprise they will spring with Micromax Q80.

The price has not been confirmed for Q80 nor has been the release date. But going by Micromax's trend in offering budget phones to the consumers, this is likely to be another budget phone.
