Amazon to launch Android tablet this year?

The tablet market is going to get an another Android-based tablet as per the rumours doing rounds online. Reportedly, Amazon is working on a new Android-based tablet which may hit the market in the second half of this year.

Quanta Computer, one of the known Taiwan-based notebook maker, has already received orders from Amazon to work on the development of the tablets. The gadget will be sporting an LCD screen made by E Ink Holding.

The rumoured Amazon Android tablet has been gaining attention ever since the online retailer announced its App store for Android in March. However, the device's specifications like screen size, memory as well as processor are not yet confirmed.

The tech blogs are buzzing with the possible launch of Amazon's debut tablet device. Although, it is still not yet clear that whether the company will go for Android Honeycomb or or some other version of the Google's Android platform.

Besides the specifications, most critics believe that an Amazon tablet would have good synchronization with Amazon's digital retail business. It will make this gadget a worthy challenger as well as help the company to compete the Apple's iPad 2 and the iTunes universe.

Amazon is also capable to offer its customers a large music store, a wide selection of movies as well as television rentals and some other added advantages, just like Apple do.

As per rumours, Amazon's tablet may store onboard native Google apps such as Gmail or Google Voice. Also, the upcoming Amazon tablet is expected to offer MP3 store, Cloud Drive, cloud storage network drive, Kindle Store, Instant video recording and many other features.

It has to compete with Apple's iPad, BlackBerry PlayBook, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom and several other tablets already available in the market, so fixing up the price of this device will be definitely a tough task for the company.
