Acer has plans to launch its Intel Oak Trail tablet in the month of July. This latest tablet will run over Android 3.0. Besides, the tablets running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Acer is also exploring the other alternatives such as MeeGo. Another Oak Trail tablet, from Micro-Star International (MSI), is expected to reach in India by the year end.
The Acer Oak Trail is basically a code name used for the Intel Atom Z670 processor designed particularly for the tablets. The ARM based processors have already captured huge market share among mobile phones.
This fabulously advance processor includes a video decoder and graphics core, besides CPU. The Oak Trail processors are expected to provide longer battery life in comparison to the earlier used Atom chips.
Intel has been extremely supportive for the brands introducing tablets running over Oak Trail and it will also provide with technical support and subsidies as well.
Some other companies are also planning to include intel's Oak Trail processors in their upcoming devices, which are also expected to be coming soon into the market. However, Acer's Oak Trail tablet is expected to land in the market first.
