The recent official announcement by LG about foraying into the dual screen smartphone segment with its android fray powered phone indicates a growing demand for the dual screen phones in the market. The dual screen phone dubbed Genesis was first uncovered by AndroidCentral, which hinted at its features specially the two touch displays measuring 3.5-inch external and 3.2-inch internal being similar to the enV design.
Touch enabled the resolution for both the screen is 480 x 800. The dual screen is a fantastic option, however the two screens enabled phone also means that it will be eating into the battery much faster. Genesis comes with a 1500mAH battery and we are not sure if it will be enough to support the two screens. The device provides for a talktime of 2 hours 30 minutes and a standby time of 17 days and 12 hours.
The Genesis will be powered by Qualcomm’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor one of the increasingly popular processors that has been used for the Sony Xperia Play and Arc models. Supporting a QWERTY kepad with a D-pad for those who like to see set of keys over the screen, Genesis comes equipped with a 5 mega pixel autofocus camera with flash.
The dual screen phone will support a 430MB of internal memory with the option for expansion upto 32GB. The device also features the usual Dcard slot, Bluetooth 2.1 DLNA media sharing and Wi-Fi Hotspot capabilities.
LG is expected to release Genesis in US through the Verizon network however so far there is no official confirmation either on the official launch date or on the expected pricing. AndroidCentral indicates the pricing to be $249.99 in addition to a two-year commitment.
The dual screen smartphones have not reached India yet, but in a time when the mobile users are continuously looking for the next exciting feature in a mobile phone, the dual screen smartphones are bound to create a stir.
