HP claims its upcoming creation TouchPad will be a iPad killer

The leading PC maker, has created quite a stir with its announcement of having created a tablet that will dethrone the all popular Apple's iPads. Dubbed as Touch Pad, this iPad-killer device will support a  9.7-inch display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. Featuring expected specs like a front- and rear-facing cameras, the device is being scheduled for release this year.

HP has chosen webOS by Palm which it took over last year for a whopping amount of $1.2 billion last year as the operating system for its upcoming device.

Gartner reports that with the entry of more rival tablets in the market, iPads' share is likely to take a dip. However those based on the webOS will occupy only 3% of the market by 2015. Not exactly a great number, however the HP seems to think otherwise. Eric Cador, Head of Europe was quoted by Telegraph as saying, "In the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one, we call it number one plus."

Toppling the iPad2 which enjoys huge popularity as indicated in its fan following and sales number, will not be a easy task. We have seen quite a few devices who have failed to accomplish this mission. According to Cador,  HP can win where rivals haven't because the company “plays in both the consumer and business and world". He believes that what is important is to  move the focus from just technology to the user experience and examine how does the user respond when he sees the tablet.

The HP Touch Pad claims will be put to test once it is released and if it can actually succeed in replacing Apple's ipads' will be something that everyone will be watching closely.
