Apple may come out with a latest version of its iPhone 4 very soon. It is expected to be a SIM-free phone, including an 8-megapixels camera, as per the reports doing rounds online.
According to the sources of the Japanese Mac focused blog Mac Otakara, Apple is currently working on the updated version of iPhone 4 that will have the same form factor. Moreover, it will be branded as iPhone 4S, just like the earlier released iPhone 3GS.
However, the spokesperson of Apple India has refused to comment on the report, but indicated 'to look out at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference 2011' that commences on June 6.
In a recent interview, Stephane Richard, the chief executive officer of France Telecom, has said that Apple had been planning out a SIM-free handset and such project was code named as e-SIM Project. Also, the smartphone manufacturer has been trying to reduce the size of the SIM module.
May be this is the reason, due to which Apple developed the micro SIM. However, there are some telecom operators who suggested Apple that a SIM module would be critical for the security and authentication process. Despite that, the company is reportedly working on a smaller SIM alongside a dual-mode chip.
According to the reports, Apple's next iPhone version will include Qualcomm's dual-mode chip, which will make it to be work on both GSM and CDMA networks. It will definitely give more choice to the users to opt for GSM or CDMA service providers, which will result in more options and flexibility.
