Apple's most popular second generation tablet has had people going crazy. From queuing up outside the store to waiting in line for days to get hold of the device, we have heard of quite a few stories that indicate the popularity of iPad2. They maybe bizarre, but you know what they say, love is blind. But the recent news from the Anhui Province of China, where a 17-year old student sold one of his kidneys to buy a iPad2 takes the love for this gadget to a whole new level.

According to the Shanghai Daily, the 17-year-old student sold one of his kidneys for 20,000 Yuan only to buy an iPad 2. Now, with his health getting worse, the boy is regretting his decision.

The boy who is presently known just by his surname Zheng, said he could not afford a ipad2 and a anonymous broker contacted him over the internet to help. The broker offered the boy 22,000 Yuan in exchange of a kidney.

On April 28, Zheng underwent the operation to remove his kidney. Reports indicate that Zheng's parents were unaware of this exchange and alerted authorities when they found out about it. Meanwhile as the authorities leaped into action, the broker has been absconding. The hospital in question apparently authorized the contract for surgeries to a Fujian businessman and hence had no idea about the boys operation.

While the authorities continue to investigate the matter, Zheng's left battling his deteriorating health.
