The much awaited WWDC 2011 has commenced and a series of new announcements have been made. Steve Jobs announced the arrival of Apple's new mobile platform iOS 5 along with iCloud and Mac OS X Lion.
Already predicted earlier, the iCloud services have now been made official. Built into iOS 5, iCloud stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to all your devices. Apple portrays the service as: This is the cloud the way it should be: automatic and effortless. iCloud is seamlessly integrated into your apps, so you can access your content on all your devices. And it’s free with iOS 5.
Out of the 200 new features integrated into the new iOS 5 for your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, here's a breakdown of the top features that tells volume about this new OS release.
The new OS comes with Notification Center: Simply put this service helps you access all your alerts at one place. Users can access all kinds of notifications on their iOS enabled device. Then the iMesasge is a new messaging service for all iOS 5 users. With this feature, you can send unlimited text messages via Wi-Fi or 3G from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to anyone in your contact list.
A hub for all your news subscription. The Newsstand works as an organiser for your magazine and newspaper app subscriptions. This folder lets you access your favourite publications easily, all at one place. For all the social media lovers, the iOS 5 brings the tailor-made Twitter tool.
PC Free feature allows independence for all iOS devices. With iOS 5, you can activate and set up your device wirelessly, right out of the box. You just need to download free iOS software updates directly on your device. Apple's new iOS 5 now comes with new moves and shortcuts to help you get around even quicker on your iPad.
Another new innovative feature with the iOS 5 is the Accessibility. Designed to make it easier for people with mobility, hearing, vision, and cognitive disabilities to get the most from their iOS devices, the iOS 5 works with specialized hardware accessories.
