Sony Ericsson's upcoming smartphone dubbed as Urushi has recently appeared online in leaked images. This mobile phone has model number ST18i and is codenamed ‘Urushi’. The device has earlier been spotted online but this time it appears in clear images along with some details on its specs.

Urushi, which could be a compact variant of its famous handset Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, is sporting a 3.2-inch touchscreen display supporting 16 million colours with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. While  the Xperia Arc includes a large 4.2 inch display. This new handset will also pack the same BRAVIA Mobile engine technology and will support the Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) version of OS, other than some typical customizations.

The Sony Ericsson smartphone, which is designed using a bright orange panel, may sport an excellent 8-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording. Besides, there is an LED flash provided for better and clear images as most of the Sony Ericsson phones include.


The Urushi will be comprising 335MB of RAM, a powerful 1GHz Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 205 CPU, due to which it will offer a fantastic performance to the users. The 3G phone also includes useful features like GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

In addition to this, the Sony Ericsson ST18i integrates Digital compass, SNS tools, MP4/H.263/H.264 player, MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV player, TrackID music recognition, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Document viewer, Voice memo and Predictive text input.


The device appeared at GSM Arena but there is no official announcement from the company about its upcoming Sony Ericsson Urushi smartphone. However, it is rumoured to hit stores by the month of September this year.
