China based Zoom Technologies launches Longtel Mobiles in India

Published on Jun 13, 2011

The surge in mobile phones usage has demonstrated India's growth in its domestic mobile phone market. This momentum has triggered a plethora of choices for the Indian consumers as well as forced domestic and international companies to deliver products that cater to the budget and value conscious Indians. The growing number of China based mobile phones in India signals a stiff competition for domestic dominators like Micromax, Spice, Karbonn and Lava among others.

Just past week we had mentioned about the Chinese mobile phone brand ForMe Mobiles making a foray into the Indian market, tempting the indian mobile users with its entry-level but feature rich, budget dual SIM Chinese phones.

Prior to that we reported about another Chinese mobile manufacturing company G'Five which planned not only to launch a budget android phone but also bring a Android tablet to the aspiring Indian consumers at a budget price. With billion consumers aspiring to taste the latest, it doesn't come as a surprise why most of the companies are heading towards - destination India.

In line with other Chinese mobile manufacturers, Zoom Technologies will launch its mobile phone products under the brand name 'Longtel'. The company claims to have sold 50,000 units of handsets to the Indian market as of May 31, 2011 and is anticipates shipping up to 300,000 units by year's end. The company is offering 10 different models of feature-rich phones with multi-media functionalities.

Mr. Lei Gu, Chairman and CEO of Zoom Technologies, said, "I am very excited that Zoom is able to participate in the rapidly advancing Indian mobile phone market as our first step in going international with our own products. We are pleased with our ability to produce phones tailor-made to the needs of the local Indian market, and we won't stop there."

Zoom also cites India's proximity to China, as a natural reason for its selection and as its first foreign market to enter in its international strategy.
