A village named 'Snapdeal.com Nagar'!

The Indian version of Groupon, the world's biggest provider of daily online deals, Snapdeals.com is in the news recently, but altogether for different reasons. The company has hit the headlines of national daily due to a village in Uttar Pradesh (UP), which has rechristened its name to Snapdeals.com - a thank you note by the villagers to the company for its noteworthy CSR initiatives.

The popular e-commerce website Snapdeals.com has recently adopted a village called Shiv Nagar in UP. The company took this step as per their corporate social responsibility obligations. The village will get infrastructure development and basic civic amenities through this organization.

"As a part of its social responsibility, the company has adopted Shiv Nagar village where it will address the basic problems of the people. As we wanted a long term association, we have adopted the village for a period of five years and in the next phase the company will be carrying out different activities, including installation of computers in schools, health care and books to students," company CEO Kunal Bahl said.

He further informed that in the first phase the company identified the issue of unavailability of potable drinking water and has installed 15 hand pumps in the village.























As a token appreciation to all the good works being done by the Snapdeal.com for the upliftment of the village, the locals have officially renamed their village Shiv Nagar to the new Snapdeal.com Nagar - an appreciation earlier earned by Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata (Tatanagar) and Gujarmal Modi (Modinagar).
