Sony to launch S1 and S2 tablet in India

Published on Jun 16, 2011

Early this year, Sony announced its two Android powered honeycomb offerings to the world. Equipped with stunning specs like Android 3.0 OS, NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor, Rear and Front Facing Camera, Custom UI, Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, the similarities between the two tablets, codenamed S1 and S2 end right here.

The S1 sports a 9.4 inch display screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, 512MB RAM, 32GB Storage, remote control for Sony AV Products, Swift Web Browser and Cross connectivity. It's sibling S2 is no less and comes with two foldable 5.5 inch screens with 1024 x 480 pixels resolution.

Supporting a custom UI Book Style, S2 also comes equipped with a eReader and Custom Email App. Both tablets are also optimized for Qriocity, Sony’s music and video streaming service and promise to offer a unique user experience.

Reports indicate that both these tablets hold an important place for Sony specially as the company is planning to connect company's network-enabled devices making it possible to manage one device from another like a remote control. At the moment information about touch sensitivity and interface is not available, but we are positive it will crop up as we approach the release date.

According to reports Sony India is planning to showcase these devices in India this week. While no official confirmation has been made the speculated date is June17. Sony S1 and S2 tablets are expected to hit worldwide in autumn. While S1will be available for  $599, S2 supporting slightly more features will be priced for $699.

Sony recently announced the launch of  a Playstation NGP. The device is expected to hit the markets somewhere in late 2011 or early 2012.
