Nokia launches N9 officially

The most awaited and since long rumored device, Nokia N9 was officially unveiled today at the Nokia Connection 2011.

The industrial design of the Nokia smartphone is an instance of excellent mobile phone development and craft. The device's covering is precision developed of a single piece of polycarbonate and flows flawlessly into marvelous curved glass. This beautiful gadget has a laminated deep black display that indicates the user interface just floats on the surface of the handset.

Marko Ahtisaari, Nokia’s head of Design said while disclosing the new device at the event “with the Nokia N9, we wanted to design a better way to use a phone. To do this we innovated in the design of the hardware and software together. We reinvented the home key with a simple gesture: a swipe from the edge of the screen. The experience sets a new bar for how natural technology can feel.”

He also added “And this is just the beginning. The details that make the Nokia N9 unique – the industrial design, the all-screen user experience, and the expressive Qt framework for developers – will evolve in future Nokia products.”

There is no need for a home key, as the all-screen of this Nokia device provides more space for apps to shine. It has an attractive 3.9-inch AMOLED screen that has a scratch-resistant curved glass. The smartphone's polycarbonate covering provides it better antenna performance, due to which users will get good reception, better voice quality and lesser dropped calls.

The Nokia N9 has also got an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss autofocus sensor, HD-quality video capture, wide-angle lens and large lens aperture offers fantastic imaging as well as video recording performance, irrespective of lighting conditions.

The Nokia device features free turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation with voice guidance in Maps. With the new dedicated Drive app, you can get in your car and start navigating to your destination right away.
