Finally, the long wait is over now for the BlackBerry lovers as RIM has now officially announced its tablet device PlayBook in the Indian market. After the successful launch of Apple iPad 2 in India, now it's another tablet that has made an entry into the Indian stores, the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The PlayBook will be distributed across the country by Redington India and Ingram Micro, initially in 1,000 retail stores in the major 8 cities, according to the company officials.

RIM's new tablet device features Wi-Fi support and is available in 3 different versions, which are 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of memory. All of these PlayBook variants are priced by the company between Rs. 27,990 to Rs. 37,990.

With the launch of the PlayBook, RIM is trying to capture a good market share in the tablet domain in India and the company is all set to give a tough competition to the newly released tablet devices from global brands.

The BlackBerry tablet has got mixed reaction ever since it was announced in the international market. In fact, few tech sites described this device as a 'half baked' product by RIM. In India, the BlackBerry PlayBook has to compete against the likes of Apple iPad 2, Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab, which are already performing good in the market.

The PlayBook packs a powerful 1GHz dual core processor, Blackberry OS and an attractive 7 inch capacitive LCD touchscreen that provides  extremely clear view. Besides, PlayBook has also got efficient dual cameras, which are capable to record full 1080p footage.

In addition, the BlackBerry PlayBook comes equipped with GPS, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and a Digital Compass. It remains to be seen how it performs against the other tablet devices in the Indian market.
