Nokia reveals its first Windows Phone handset, Sea Ray unofficially

Nokia Sea Ray, Nokia's first Windows Phone

With still some time left for the official announcement of Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 handsets (s), we have every reason to believe that the company would not want to reveal any information prematurely.

Well, Nokia seems to be thinking otherwise. CEO Stephen Elop in an event has shown off the first Windows Phone handset made by Nokia called the Sea Ray. We are really baffled by his naivety; I mean what was he thinking?

Well, before the device was shown off, a small demonstration was held about the N9, explaining its features. And just as they finished the demonstration, CEO Elop asked everybody present in the auditorium to turn off their camera or recording devices saying that he had something confidential to share with them. That was enough reason for us to get excited. He then took the phone out of his pocket and placed it on the table and there it was, the first Nokia Windows Phone handset.

No info was given about the specs but we suspect that it could have a 3.9 inch display like the Nokia N9. An 8MP snapper on the back with Carl Zeiss optics as shown by Elop and has a slightly different placement of the dual LED flash as compared to the Nokia N9.

A 1GHz processor is definitely on board which could be coupled by 512MB of RAM. By the looks of the video it pretty much looks like a staged event. Because there is absolutely no lag in the camera work, and Elop can’t be unaware of the camera being placed there, given its nature.

We don’t mind how we get the info though, as long as we can treat our eyes to devices like these. But the question has to be asked, is this how Nokia intends to maintain secrecy over its products. It’s ironic that this happens just days after Nokia mentioned that it wants to follow Apple’s device secrecy system.
