We had reported last week that Motorola was gearing up for the launch of Motorola Xoom in India this month and we glad to report that we just heard the good news. Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi and 3G variant tablets are now officially available in India.
Motorola XOOM has been a highly anticipated device and it comes as no surprise - the tablet is the world’s first device powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Sporting a 1GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, front-facing and rear-facing cameras and the latest Google Mobile services on a 10.1-inch HD display, Xoom is presently available in two variants in India— a Wi-Fi and 3G version. Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi version is available for Rs 32,990 while the 3G version costs Rs 39,990.
Rajan Chawla, Mobile Devices business country head for Sales and Operations, India and South West Asia, Motorola Mobility said, "Motorola XOOM is redefining the tablet experience by pre-empting the future mobile experience today. He further added, "Designed from the ground up with the user in mind, it offers productivity while on the go and, provides more ways to have fun and connect with friends. Whether surfing the Web, watching the latest hit movie as it was intended or video-chatting with friends, Motorola XOOM will delight customers with its ease of use, speed and vivid graphics. Motorola XOOM is everything that a tablet should be!."
Motorola XOOM promises to deliver exceptionally fast performance and give a taste of unique user experience through Honeycomb. The device comes equipped with support for HDMI which enables viewing of videos and movies on larger screens, beta version of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 and in addition contains a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting.
Motorola Xoom tablet includes around 32GB on-board storage and comes with several connectivity options like 3.5 mm, micro USB 2.0 HS, Corporate Sync, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR + HID. The tablet supports up to 10 hours of video playback and charges in half the time of some competitive tablets on the market.
Apple iPad2 was released in the market recently and as expected was a hit among the Indian users. Will Motorola Xoom be able to give a stiff competition to the ipad2 or will it fizz out - what do you think?
