Android gets cloned?
Published on Jun 29, 2011
Chinese search company Baidu is planning to roll-out an Android clone, on which it is presently working. The company has already developed a Twitter kind of application, particularly for the Chinese market, and things like that are common among Chinese firms.
This Chinese entity is listed on the New York stock exchange and has been growing at a very fast pace. Besides, Baidu is actually capable of developing a mobile operating system on its own. The company is engaged in evolving its own mobile operating system similar to Android, as per everythingandroid report.
This rumoured OS will not be a veneer such as HTC Sense or Samsung touchwhiz, the user interfaces sitting on top of Android. But the Chinese search engine giant is purportedly trying to make a clone of Android. This new operating system for Chinese market will be known as under the name Qiushi.
Android based on Linux that is an open source operating system, but it has been done legally. However, currently what Baidu is conspicuously doing is subject to be challenged, as an intellectual property violation.
The chinese firm can deter that situation by changing bits and pieces and claiming that it has developed its OS on Linux.
We are sure if this Chinese OS comes out, then definitely it will find its way to Indian market too. The reason behind our surety is the good demand of chinese phones in India, which are basically marketed by Indian handset companies.
However, still there is no confirmation from the company's side, whether it is working on the new OS cloning Android or not. But very soon we shall find out.
