iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5 : What is it going to be?

The successor to the iPhone 4 has been one of the most discussed phones around. It is almost inevitable that a new iPhone will be launched this fall; it’s only a matter of time we think. But as Apple has been secretive about its products in the past, we could expect them to follow the same strategy this time around.

We saw the company follow similar protocol with the iPad 2 which took everyone by surprise. But now it comes down to what we could expect from the successor of the current iPhone. Will it be a worthy successor or will it just be a slightly revamped version of the predecessor like we saw with the iPhone 3GS?

Well, there are basically two schools of thought. One group thinks that the next iPhone could be a totally new phone bearing no similarities to the iPhone 4. Others think that Apple could be preparing a 4G version of the iPhone 4, called the iPhone 4S. While both these claims are too good to be false, there can only be one device launched. But Apple could surprise us by launching both devices at once.

We must say that the possibility of the iPhone 4S or a revamped version of the iPhone 4 seems very likely. We say this because this is what Apple has done something in the past. But with that being said, we should also consider the possibility of a dual core iPhone.

Apple is rolling out the A5 chipset with iPad 2s. So it could only make sense for Apple to launch a dual core smartphone. And given the recent market conditions, we could see close competition between the dual core iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S II which has been rightfully called the fastest smartphone in the world.

Other reports suggest that Apple will be launching a slightly downgraded version of the iPhone 4, to sell it in developing nations for a lesser price. To be honest, it’s very difficult to predict Apple’s products, because we never know what’s going on in their minds. But there is no doubt that the tech sphere will be eagerly anticipating the launch of the next iPhone.
