The Indian telecom industry continues to grow at a rapid pace with around 826 million wireless subscribers under its belt by April 2011. In this scenario Mobile Value Added Services (VAS) are expected to play a key role in further driving the growth in the telecom industry. According to a study by global consultancy firm Deloitte, Mobile Value Added Services are expected to be USD 4 billion industry within the next two years.
In India we have seen that most of the MVAS is concentrated across music and content like wallpapers, themes, ringtones and SMS based services like news, updates among others. This trend is expected to extend to entertainment and communication with the improvement in telecom networks. According to a recent PwC report titled Value Added Service: The Next Wave in the Communication VAS Services segment, "video calls, MMS and Email will be the key drivers for the communication VAS services. The total revenue from communication services is expected to cross Rs. 20,000 crore by 2015 in which the SMS will contribute 72% of this revenue."
It therefore does not come as a surprise that why there has been a tremendous interest in the Value Added Services. Bringing in a exciting trend towards the rising era of VAS in India, 10th VAS Asia 2011, returns with a bigger platform on 8th of July 2011 at The Le Meridien in New Delhi.
