Facebook for Android v1.6 faulty
Published on Jun 30, 2011
Facebook recently rolled out the 1.6 update for the Android version of the app. The new update brought a lot of new features to the table like the ability to upload videos and viewing of pages whilst on the application instead of opening the page with the browser. But not all has gone right with the new 1.6 update. Many users have found flaws with this update for Android.
Well one of the user complaints states that when a user taps on any of the notifications in the app, the notifications opens up on the mobile site of Facebook in the default browser, instead of getting it done on the app itself. This seems like a bug which the developers need to look into.
Well, the other bug is where the news feed is always refreshing itself.
The news feed refreshes by itself without the user’s permission (i.e. if you’ve enabled 3G or GPRS). With this hyperactive behaviour of the newsfeed, users often miss the important updates from their friends or pages. This will also lead to the draining of the device’s battery. After a certain period, the user’s device would run out of juice without the user being aware of it. Some say that the folks at Facebook are currently working on a fix, but until then users will have to bear with the faulty newsfeed snag.
Since there are no fixes promised by Facebook yet, users will have to try it the old fashioned way, by uninstalling and installing the app again. This might work for some lucky users, but others might just have to wait till Facebook comes up with a fix.
It is really disappointing how this new update promised so much, yet disappointed most users. Well I guess that’s the case with any Facebook update, we are yet to find the perfect update without any bugs.
