Being the world’s first device to be powered by Android 3.0 Honeycomb, it was no surprise that Motorola Xoom was one of the highly anticipated device. Now there is more good news for the Xoom lovers. The tablet will soon be the first to get a Android Honeycomb 3.2 update.

According to Android Central, a project member from the Android Open Source Project website said that the update will take place in a few days. While no official confirmation about this update has been provided for Xoom tablets in India we are hoping that the update should arrive by the end of this month or early August.

This timeline can be further pushed because of the OTA's.  The new upgrade is expected to bring major improvements to Xoom specially in performance and display as well as fixing the 3.1 bugs. There are also speculations on tweaking the widgets as well as bringing in apps for the video and audio player.

According to reports it seems that Android Honeycomb 3.2 will be the last update before the new Android version popularly known as  Ice Cream Sandwich will be released. If that is true we are likely to see the next launches in both the smartphone and tablets supporting the new Android OS.

Equipped with a powerful 1GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, Xoom comes strapped with a front-facing and rear-facing cameras and the latest Google Mobile services. Sporting a vibrant 10.1-inch HD display, the tablet is presently available in two variants in India— a Wi-Fi and 3G version. Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi version is  available for Rs 32,990 while the 3G version costs Rs 39,990.

We had reported earlier last week about the price cut in Motorola Xoom tablet which fueled speculation about the launch of its next Motorola tablet. Rumormill has it that the next tablet will either be called  Xoom 2 or Xoom 4G LTE. With the news of the last honeycomb update and the adoption of the new Android OS -Ice Cream Sandwich, we won't be surprised if Motorola's next tablet is equipped with the latest Android OS.

Check out how Motorola Xoom fares against LG Optimus Pad and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a clash of the tablet-titans.
