Sony S1 pre-orders starts from Sep 1

Sony seems all set to launch its S1 Android Honeycomb based tablet, which will probably go up for pre-order on September 1 in UK. Earlier there were reports coming for its late-September launch. The tablet is seemingly, readying for a significant push “with staffers instructed to know the device inside and out.”

The final pricing of the Sony tablet is still a mystery, however it is expected to cost around Rs. 26,689. Due to no knowledge of its exact price it is difficult to speculate where the Sony S1 will slot in the grand scheme of Android tablets.

It is expected from the company to carry a premium over its rivals already present in the market such as Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. Particularly when Sony is pushing for the PlayStation Suite integration.

The Sony S1 is likely to be the first of the reskinned Android Honeycomb tablet, which will definitely make it stand apart from all others in the market. The Sony S2 is also first of its kind as it is a clamshell tablet with dual displays. Sony launched its two tablets S1 and S2 together in Japan two months back.

The S1 is designed with a 9.4-inch display screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. Besides, there is a 512MB RAM and 32GB storage space that makes it work faster and store a lot of data. It includes a faster web browser as well as offers cross connectivity.

The Android tablet is also optimized for Qriocity, Sony’s music and video streaming service. The most interesting feature of this device is its capablility to work as a universal remote to control several audio-visual equipment and to share the content to television screens or music to wireless speakers.
