The BlackBerry Bold 9900 will be launched in a month claims RIM’s Co-CEO

Published on Jul 13, 2011

BlackBerry’s latest new handset the Bold 9900 is not far away from launch said the co-CEO of the company Mike Lazaridis, who was speaking at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting.

According to him the BlackBerry 9900 will be launched in about a month. He also went on to say that the Bold 9900 will mark the largest global launching in RIM’s market history. This is enough reason to believe that RIM has gone all in on the Bold 9900. And obviously RIM doesn’t want to leave anything half done with this handset and hence this handset has gone through 491 approval programs and 191 carriers.

The BB Bold 9900 will mark the debut of the BlackBerry OS 7 which is set to bring some changes to the platform. The Bold 9900 will be one of the seven BlackBerry OS 7 handsets that are to be launched in the coming days. This includes the likes of the Curve series that we have heard of so far, the new Torch 9850, the BlackBerry Touch 9860(full touch form factor).

BlackBerry handsets in India have been immensely popular. That is mainly due to the level of security that RIM provides with its handsets for emails, which was not liked much by the Indian Government. Plus these handsets come with one of the best QWERTY keyboards making it easier to type and to use the device while on the go.

With the new generation of BlackBerry handsets ready to launch globally, the Indian market is eagerly anticipating its launch. It is up to RIM to launch the device accordingly and at the right time. Because the likes of Android, WP7, Symbian and iOS are growing rapidly, so RIM wouldn’t really want to wait for too long.

I personally feel that RIM are way behind in terms of implementing new technology and the Canadian company should take inspiration from Symbian which was criticized for something similar. But it seems like RIM has bigger problems to worry about than that.
