BlackBerry planning a launch for 7 new smartphones

Research In motion (RIM) is going to unleash seven new BlackBerry smartphones in the coming months, said co-CEOs of RIM, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis during the company's annual meeting in Waterloo, Canada.

Shrinking market share, contracting revenue, profit warnings and delays in replacing the old mobile phones have made investors worried. On this finally RIM has announced a good news for them and also for the BlackBerry admirers.

BlackBerry has slipped from top to third position in the US smartphone's category since October, soon after the launch of Apple's iPhone and Google Android devices.

Assuring its investors, Balsillie said, 'If there is anything that will make you sleep better at night that I can do, I will do it.' Also, guaranteed them that with the launch of these handsets they are going to be at number one position once again.

All these BlackBerry devices will be running the upcoming BlackBerry OS 7. The operating system recently announced in the global market.

According to The Mobile Indian, Varghese M Thomas, Director, Corporate Communications, India and SAARC, RIM shared with them that "All the new devices, which will be launched internationally, will also be coming to India."

Earlier, we had reported that the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 (touch and type device) is also set to hit the Indian markets but delayed. It is now going to be launched very soon in the coming weeks. RIM is planning to introduce some of its BlackBerry smartphones running on OS7 operating system including BlackBerry Bold 9900.

Moreover, the company is expected to announce an OS7 update for its newly launched BlackBerry Playbook tablet in India.
