Viewsonic is set to launch its 7’’ Android Honeycomb Tablet with WiMax network support near Diwali. This is the company’s first tablet with WiMax support in the country and consumers are expecting great things from the launch.
WiMax is a 4G technology, faster and better than anything else in the market right now. It offers very high speed broadband access to wireless internet and data transfer. All users have to do is connect to a WiMax base station in order to enjoy a seamless internet connection. WiMax offers a long range (about 30 miles) and usually has a number of stations set up within an area, making it quick and easy to get online. Users are also assured of their data safety while moving around within the network, since WiMax offers very strong encryptions.
4G technology is offered on a large scale in India only by BSNL. But that is set to change with other service providers like Airtel, Reliance and Aircel getting ready to launch 4G services by December or by the beginning of next year.
It is yet unknown however, whether the providers will go in for WiMax or LTE, another 4G technology. Ajay Sharma, country manager of Viewsonic India feels the timing of the launch is perfect, as the country readies itself to embrace 4G networking.
The Android Honeycomb is Google’s pride and joy, being the first Android Mobile OS designed for tablets. The apps page and the browser have an improved interface, making navigation and multi tasking a breeze. On the Honeycomb, one can hold video chats with friends on Google Talk and read any of the 3 million Google E books with the touch of a button.
Viewsonic’s tablet is slated to be just like the one, company showcased at the Computex trade fair in Taipei. Even though extremely light at 380 grams, it will be packed with features like a dual cameras, USB, HDMI outlet, 1 Ghz Tegra 2 Processor etc. Set to take the networking world by storm later this year, it will probably be priced between Rs. 30000/- and Rs. 35,000/-.
Viewsonic has more goodies lined up for India. The company is planning to introduce its two new dual SIM Android smartphones, Viewsonic V350 and Viewpad 4 and world's first Intel Oak powered dual OS tablet ViewPad 10 Pro which runs both Android and Windows 7 platform.
