September release for Samsung Galaxy 3D?

Published on Jul 25, 2011

Korean website ETNews claims that Samsung is working on a new handset based on the Android operating system that is apparently 3D capable as well.

The Galaxy 3D will run on Android 2.3 and incorporate a 1.2GHz dual core Exynos processor and be equipped with a 4.3’’ 3D LCD screen and dual 8 mega-pixel cameras. What’s more, the smartphone is also expected to be able to output captured 3D imagery to a TV. It will also support a HD TV out port.

When the Samsung Galaxy S II debuted, it was lapped up by consumers. Loyalists have gone so far as to call it ‘The greatest phone ever’. It features a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual core processor Exynos chipset with a Mali-400MP GPU and is currently the most technologically advanced phone released by Samsung.

Within less than 2 month of its release, the Samsung Galaxy S II sold 3 million devices and is slated to beat it’s predecessor’s (the Samsung Galaxy S) record of 14 million units sold in its first year.

If the rumors are true and Samsung does release the Galaxy 3D by September, the timing couldn’t be better. The phone is going to directly compete with the two 3D phones in the market, the HTC EVO 3D and the LG Optimus 3D.

And if Apple is able to resolve the issues surrounding the A5 processor overheating and release the iphone 5 on time as well, the two phones will be head to head in vying for consumers’ attention.

Since 3D is the next big thing in devices ranging from TVs to phones, it seems only apt for Samsung to combine its smartphone with this technology and make it even bigger and better. With its Android Gingerbread OS and exciting 3D capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy 3D is ready to take the smartphone market by storm and we can’t wait to see the competition heat up!
