Everything you need to know about N9

Published on Jul 25, 2011

Nokia is finally going to release its most awaited Meego-powered smartphone, Nokia N9 in the international market in the coming few weeks. Most of you people must be already knowing that this phone is going to be released in some selected countries. However, we still don't know whether it is coming to India or not, as there is no announcement for its release in the Indian market as of now.

The most interesting thing about the Nokia N9 is its slim, tablet kind form factor, which makes it stand out of many others in the line to launch. Most of us expect with Nokia mobile phones to be somewhat sturdy and lacking in looks, but its not the case with N9 as it will charm you in the very first glance.

When you move ahead of the surface and see the other parts of the device, you'll easily find what Nokia is trying to achieve with the N9. This is a smartphone designed to beat the competition Nokia is currently facing from Android and iOS. Besides, the company is also set to introduce Windows Phone 7.5 devices in the near future.

Nokia is doing this through offering users a slim, portable touchscreen-only smartphone comprising all the excellent apps, maps as well as the trimmings a modern user requires these days.

Although, the Nokia N9 runs over a 1GHz Cortex A8 chip, which isn't going to win any medals for bleeding-edge hardware. On the contrary, other manufacturers are coming up with dual-core embedded devices and number of excellent features and apps.

It doesn't seems like Nokia wants to rock the global market with its N9 and create unnecessary pressure, but of-course a ripple would have been better?

Other than the underwhelming CPU, there will be a one good thing, which is its RAM (1GB) and loads of connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi 820.11n and 3G. Besides, there are some other good features like an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss powered camera and Dolby Digital Plus, which pulls it back to the positive side.

It may be completely unfair to consider the upcoming Nokia smartphone as disappointing, without even using it once. Whereas, developing the first ever MeeGo powered device is only good to deal with middling Android gadgets in the global market.

As the smartphone includes MeeGo, it gives us the first real reason to be excited. The promising operating system's user interface seems gorgeous and the three home-screen setup, as demonstrated on the N9 appears to be both sensible and well considered.

MeeGo has Linux roots and the potential to beat its rivals to emerge out as a real game-changing OS for open source mobile platform. In place of a re-hashed java platform, which talks big about openness but doesn't deliver at that scale.

The most desired things for the smartphones like Apps and other content will be provided on the Nokia's tired OVI store. When it comes to design, Nokia might have tried to cut the cost and that's why they opted for plastic chassis, rather than the usual strong metal housing.

Let's just try to be optimistic and hope that N9 is going the first of a new generation device that is expected to gain back, the Nokia's name on the top among the list of mobile manufacturing companies.
