Samsung Galaxy Tab: A buying guide

Published on Jul 26, 2011

Samsung has forever been one of the leaders of the IT market. So, as the tablet war waged on, it became necessary for it to play its part. Samsung came out with the Galaxy Tab earlier this year and since then, it has been creating waves.

The Galaxy Tab has been the most publicized tablet after the iPad 2. But does it stand up to the hype?

We provide you with a lowdown on this tablet along with specs, pros and cons and finally our verdict on the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Samsung Galaxy Tab: A buying guide

Specs: The Samsung Galaxy Tab will run on the Android Honeycomb OS. It has a superior 10.1 inch touchscreen equipped with Touchwiz UI. It offers a crystal clear display resolution of 1280 x 800 which beats any other display available in the market. It is equipped with a standard 1 GHz processor and has an 8-megapixel and a 2-megapixel front camera.

Pros: The Galaxy Tab offers an Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS. It's back camera is best available in the market right now, which makes it the best tablet if you are a video buff. Its graphic capabilities are nearly perfect. Its touchscreen is smooth as silk and it weigh lighter than its previous variant.

Cons: The pricing is very steep. At  Rs.38,000, it seems out of an average Joe's range. It runs on 512 MB RAM, which means it is slower than many of the tablets available in the market. Also while the tablet is light (it weighs only 599g), its portability will be affected by its shape.

Verdict: The Galaxy Tab is, truly one of the best tablets out there. If you are not a tight budget, this tablet is definitely a good buy - for those on tighter budget may we say, it's just out of your league. Who knows  maybe they will come with an economy edition for budget consumers.
