If the Samsung Galaxy S II were to have a younger brother, the Samsung Galaxy R would be it. Probably renamed R for the British market, the Samsung Z is listed in Sweden already. As the video that Sammy Hub got their hands on demonstrates, the features of the phone are very similar to those of the Galaxy S II, with a few downgrades.
According to the video, the smart phone is going to run on the Android 2.3 operating system. The phone has a 1 GHz Tegra 2 dual processor and a 4.2 ‘’ SLCD touch screen display. It has a 5mega-pixel camera with 720p HD video recording and a 1.3 front facing camera too. It has an internal memory of 8 GB and a micro SD card slot that sustains up to 32 GB of memory. It also has features like an FM radio, GPS and WiFi.
Sounds pretty good, so what is it lacking? Compared to big brother the Samsung Galaxy S II, doesn’t have is a 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos dual core processor and a 4.3’’ Super AMOLED Plus display. The Samsung Galaxy S II supports an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080 video recording. What’s more, the Galaxy R is thicker.
With such changes, a change is price is inevitable. What the difference in the costs of the two phones is, we still don’t know. It’s something we will be watching out for. But rest assured, if you are looking for a smart phone but you don’t want to burn a hole in your pocket buying it, the Samsung Galaxy R might just be the perfect phone for you!
