All about Windows phone 7: update 7008

Once the king of the operating systems, Microsoft now stands rubbing shoulders with other players in the market. It has gradually lost its market share and with the ongoing troubles with the Windows Phone 7 OS, continues to do so. But how does it affect us as consumers? What really is a Windows Phone 7 update?
Microsoft, in a bid to match up to its competitors such as the Android OS, has come out with an update that aims at improving the update process itself. The Windows phone update 7008 does sound a little generic, but actually, it spells good news for its users.
Microsoft first offered its update in late 2010, and then came the March 2011 update. Its latest update, colloquially called the update 7008 aims at making your Windows phone 7 smoother and faster.
Microsoft has in the past faced problems with this update. Reportedly WP 7 phones such as the Samsung Omnia and HTC Trophy faced problems with the phones blocking updates. The Windows Phone 7 software, Zune, failed to detect updates after they were downloaded.
Another reason for the failure of the previous updates was that even though Microsoft tried to provide its update for all Windows phones, it failed to do so as its carriers assumed reasonable control regarding the updates. This meant that the consumer would have to wait for the carrier’s approval for getting the update.
The windows Phone update 7008 aims at resolving all these issues. With the Windows Phone 7.5 platform – the Mango OS, gearing up for release, it makes sense for Windows to provide an update beforehand.
This update still leaves much ground to be covered.
With the iOS 5 and Ice Cream Sandwich about to release, it will only get tougher for Microsoft to remain without competition in the operating systems market. Watch this space for more on Windows Phones.
