Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 getting updated with Android 3.1 in August

Published on Jul 29, 2011

There has been much talk about the pairing of the Samsung Tablet with the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS for months now. Most of it revolved around rumours doing the rounds that the launch of the two together had been delayed due to a last minute bug caught by Google. Finally, it looks like the pair is set to tie the knot.

Powered with the Android 3.1 OS, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is going to give the iPad some very tough competition. Another rival it will face head on is the Toshiba Thrive which, despite being packed with features, is quite easy on the pocket too. Of course, among other exciting features, the 10.1 is thinner and lighter!

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a powerful dual core 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor and weighs even less than the iPad. The update brings to it features like unlimited number of apps in the multi tasking pane and the ability to resize widgets as per a user’s convenience. Though the update adds apps like Google Books, it deletes those like Kindle and Amazon.

Even scrolling and tapping on the machine will be smoother with the Android 3.1. With improved speed and power, the tablet will now support USB connected devices as well. Applications will be able to use high performance WiFi even when the screen is off.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 offers a widescreen HD (1280X800) display and a full HTML Browser with Adobe Flash Technology. With a thickness of just .34” and a weight of 1.25 lbs, it is a lightweight powerhouse of goodies, specially now that is finally paired with the Android 3.1 OS.

We are eagerly awaiting to see the leaders of the tablet market fight it out for the top spot, come August!
