The Canadian handset maker Research in Motion (RIM) has surprised us. According to news reports the company is gearing up towards the launch of its flagship smartphone, Bold 9900 in India this month.
The unofficial news pegs the launch date between 8-14 August. In our earlier news about the Blackberry Bold 9900: Everything you need to know, we had mentioned about a post on the popular Blackberry forum, Crackberry which had indicated the launch date as August 7-8. The post written by a member stated, " hey guys, so like I've mentioned my uncle handles RIM's distribution in Eastern India and he had told me that he expects the Bold 9900 to be in his warehouses by the 7-8 of august with a release a week later. Could it be that India is one of the first countries to get the 9900 ? Well, the answer is yes. Even ahead of a UK launch which is slated for August 22.
Blackberry Bold 9900 sporting a 2.8-inch VGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 640 x 480 and 287ppi and is powered by the latest OS 7.
A fast and responsive touchscreen, integrated with a 5 mega-pixel camera, Near Field Communication (NFC) support, 8GB onboard memory with additional 32GB, the smartphone packs in both fun and functionality.
Blackberry Bold 9900's launch was delayed several time this year. However a vote of confidence came from Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis who stated that while, "it may have delayed us, but we are going to come out ahead.”
According to igyaan, the device is expected to be priced at Rs 32,500 and come with a 1.5 year warranty. One of the seven new BlackBerry smartphones scheduled for release this year, Bold 9900 is seen as the key to RIM's recovery- both in terms of health and wealth.
