Local mobile phone player, Maxx Mobile eyeing the tablet space and is working hard on its proposed products, according to a top official of the company.
Ajjay Agarwal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Maxx group, told reporters "We are in the process of developing some tabs. It will take a long time. It is not that easy (to produce a tablet). We have to do a lot of work on that. The features will be the USP (Unique Selling Proposition). Right now we cannot comment anything on it," according to news reports.
The concept device of Maxx will compete with Samsung's Galaxy Tab, Apple iPad 2, Motorola's Xoom, Blackberry's Playbook, Dell's Streak, HTC' Flyer and many others present in the Indian market.
Where the bigger brands are offering their devices at high prices that starts from Rs 25,000, on the other hand Indian brands are trying to the prices for their tablets quite cheaper in comparison to international brands.
Some analysts are expecting the sales of tablets from different brands in India to touch one million units over the next 12 months.
Agarwal also stated "We are mainly into manufacturing of mobile phone batteries and chargers. The primary raw material for these mobile phone battery is lithium iron cells. It has a great consumption in our factory. So we decided to do backward integration."
Adding to it, he told media that the company has plans to invest Rs 320-crore during this fiscal to produce lithium iron cells and mobile phones.
