The Nokia C7 was launched in November last year at Nokia World, alongside the Nokia C6, N8 and E7.

It falls in the middle of the pile - it's not the flagship phone, but also isn't for everyone's budgets.

The C7 looks and feel like a sturdy, premium device. It's a little lighter that the phone's sibling, the C6, at 130g and fits easily in the hand at 117.3x56.8x10.5mm.

A 3.7-inch touchscreen takes up most of the front of the device, a sis normally the case with touchscreen handsets, and what a spectacular screen it is.

Although Nokia hasn't included the ClearBlack display as on the C6 and E7, it's still pin sharp and presents colours wonderfully. It does however, suffer from greasy fingerprints so you'll find yourself wiping the screen persistently.

The capacitive screen features haptic feedback, so when you tap the screen, you'll really feel it responding. This is reassuring and ensures you know what you've pressed.

Below the screen, there are call answer and end buttons, flush to the casing and a central select key.

Around the sides, Nokia has integrated a chrome bezel for ultimate style. On the back, you'll find an 8-megapixel camera with a dual LED flash that sometimes can dwarf photos in a splash of light.

Alongside the camera, there are speakers that pump out quality sound, although you'll only be able to hear them clearly if you place the phone face down on a surface, otherwise they sound distorted.

Nokia has packed in a 680MHz processor to make sure every app runs smoothly. Multitasking works effortlessly, and thanks to the graphic accelerator, transitions, animations and videos all speed along.

We didn't find any stalls or crashes, which is perfect for a smartphone of today. The Symbian^3 OS doesn't feel quite finished, but as one of the first batch of Symbian devices, we can let this slide.

The Symbian^3 OS, although a little sketchy here and there, is a nice change from the S60 interface of old.

It features three home screens, each with up to six widgets. You can add preinstalled widgets (including an RSS reader, weather, social feeds plus lots more) or download extras from the Nokia Ovi Store.
