We are all quite familiar with the waging war between Samsung and Apple. However besides their general animosity, the two hottest manufacturers have something else in common. Both of them have had that one device to credit for their unparalleled success.
While Apple is gearing up for the release of its sixth generation iPhone, its Korean counterpart is putting the final touches to its Samsung Galaxy S 3.
Based on the rumors and speculations, we compare the two beasts that are ready to storm the mobile market.
Will Samsung S3 be able to surpass the 33 million mark in 55 days set up by its predecessor? Or will Apple's iPhone 5 steal the limelight with its stunning features? Know Your Mobile finds out.
Form Factor
Samsung unveiled its series of Galaxy S devices in the Indian market last year. Out of the impressive lineup, the Galaxy S2 tasted phenomenal success.
Sporting a slim chassis, the sleek and sexy device drove all the other smartphones to the gym. While the battle of the "who is the slimmest of all' continues, it seems that Samsung Galaxy S3 is all ready to set a new record.
At CES 2012, the Galaxy S3 device was allegedly revealed by Samsung in a video presentation. The wide screen and a super thin bezel led everybody to conclude that it was the next Galaxy S model. Well it may not be far from truth.
As for the Apple iPhone 5 we are likely to see the smartphone digress from the earlier iPhone form factor.
We expect the smartphone to sport a thinner chassis and a bigger home button. There is also some chatter about a possible curved display.
Both the smartphones bring a host of interesting features to the table making it a tough decision for both smartphone users to pick one over the other.
Winner: Draw
Display
'Bigger is better' is the new norm among smartphone manufacturers. It therefore does not come as a surprise that Samsung Galaxy S 3 is rumored to sport a whopping 4.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus 720P display. A pixel density of over 330ppi and 3D visuals are also rumored to be onboard the stunning smartphone.
Out of all the Apple iPhone 5 rumors we have heard the one that remains consistent is the presence of a bigger screen.
The fifth generation iPhone is expected to sport a 4-inch display and offer pixel density to the tune of 350ppi.
We hear that the Cupertino company is working on some advanced technology that will aid in bringing down the power demands by almost 25 per cent – which is definitely something to watch out for.
Winner - Apple iPhone 5
Processor
Earlier we had heard the rumors that the iPhone 5 will come packed with a A5 processor. However with the overheating troubles faced by the A5-equipped iPad 2, Apple decided to go give it a skip.
The latest rumors are directed towards the quad-core A6 processor. This means that the Apple iPhone 5 will be clocking in a amazing 1GHz speed over four CPU cores.
The device is also expected to house 1GB of RAM and come in 16, 32 and 64GB variants. There is also high possibility that the smartphone will be LTE enabled.
On the other hand Samsung's Galaxy S3 quad-core Cortex-A9 CPU processor (clocking in 1.5 GHz) will surely knock your socks off. It gets even better too, as the smartphone is rumored to pack in a 2GB RAM and 16 or 32GB onboard memory.
