Operating System
The Lumia 800 is powered by the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango while the Samsung Galaxy Note runs on the Android Gingerbread 2.3.6 version.
The Android interface is easy, smooth and intuitive and with the Android 4.0 update lined up, Galaxy Note will become even more delicious.
Also we know that the Korean company has tweaked its TouchWiz UI 4.0 bringing extra widgets, the hub system and social networking to your fingers tips.
As for the Windows Phone, just the launch version brings in a host of upgrades like the social networking support, Internet Explorer 9 and support for the third party. In addition those who are new to the Lumia 800 will fall in love with the beautiful Windows metro UI.
The replacements of the icon-based screens with the live tiles as well as the fast and responsive interface that functions without as much as a stutter is bound to keep you hooked.
The intuitive interface and user-friendly nature also works in Lumia's favor in attracting new smartphone users looking for a break from Android.

Camera
The super stunning and sleek Lumia 800 boasts of a 8-megapixel primary auto focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics. A 3X digital zoom and a host of features like geotagging, touch focus, fast sharing, dual LED flash, exposure compensation and auto and manual white balance is also provided. The device is capable of HD video recording. However the major disappointment comes from the lack of a secondary camera.
Galaxy Note matches Lumia 800 head on with a 8-megapixel primary camera. It does however get additional points for a secondary 2-megapixel camera that comes in handy while video chatting.
Winner - Draw
Apps
This is one area where the Android scores a victory over the Windows platform. The Windows Marketplace has limited number of apps that stands in front of the 400,000 apps on the Android Market (as of January 2012). While we have seen a growth in the number of Windows apps (currently at 60,000), it still has a long way to go before it can even compete with the Android Market.
Winner - Android
Nokia Lumia matches Galaxy Note in performance and usability. While the Android powered device does take a lead on some fronts, we find that Lumia 800 still manages to shine (if not outshine).
If you are looking at trying you hands on something different, Nokia Lumia 800 is a great pick, however if you prefer a powerful Android device instead, Galaxy Note surely has a lot to offer.
