Breaking away from the Android herd, Nokia decided to partner with Microsoft to introduce its first Windows Phone device - Lumia 800. The device has been under constant surveillance since its inception warranting attention of both the customers and critics.
To see how the newbie fares in the market flooded with Android smartphones, we pit the Windows 7 device against the biggest Android beast out there - Samsung Galaxy Note.
Does the Windows phone have what it takes to challenge the Android? Know Your Mobile finds out.
Form Factor
Samsung Galaxy Note comes in the dimensions of 146.9 x 83 x 9.7 mm and weighs juts 178g. Sporting a thin chassis, the device is robust and features the same plastic-type built as other Samsung smartphones.
While the device doesn't garner a wow at the first look and is a little uncomfortable to hold (considering the odd 5.3" screensize), it does provide that familiar 'samsung feel' and the Android makeup that you are used to.
On the other hand, Nokia Lumia 800 excludes enough class and style for you to turn around and take notice. Measuring 116.5 x 61.2 x 12.1 mm in dimensions the device has been designed from a single piece of moulded polycarbonate, which gives its a sleek and sexy look.
One look at Lumia 800 and you know why the company CEO Stephon Elop calls it the "first real Windows phone".

Display
It is tough to beat a device that brings the best of both world's- smartphone and tablets. And that's what the Samsung Galaxy Note does. The monstrous 5.3" HD Super AMOLED display with a 800x1280 resolution and a pixel density of 285PPI brings a imersive viewing experience, something that both smartpone users and tablet users enjoy.
The Nokia Lumia 800 doesn't fare too badly either. The device features a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with 480x800 resolution and the pixel density to the tune of 252PPI.
The 'super Amoled' and simple 'Amoled' is what turns the table in favor of Galaxy Note apart from the giant screen that we mentioned before.

Processor
The Nokia Lumia 800 is powered by a a single-core CPU. Apart from clocking a speed of 1.4GHz, the device brings additional goodies like a Adreno 205 GPU. Those who have used the Adreno 200 will immediately notice a significant improvement in speed.
In addition Adreno 205 also features streaming textures that are able to combine video, and image surfaces with 3D graphics. Nokia adds some more meat to the beast with the inclusion of the 512MB RAM that will take care of all the arduous work be it the testing apps or games.
However here too Samsung's Galaxy Note brings more to the table. Be it the 1GB RAM, 1.4Ghz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor or the Mali-400MP GPU that makes it look like a descendant from Krypton planet.
