Motorola has recently introduced its upcoming tablet device Motorola XOOM at CES 2011. Motorola's debut tablet device has now been launched at it is already creating good buzz around the tech portals.

As expected, the new device is again benchmarked against the most popular Apple iPad as people want to know how it is different compared to the iPad. We put both the tablets side by side to check what all unique features they have to offer to their users?

Let's analyze the XOOM against the iPad to see which one offers the best value for money to the user.

Display
Motorola seem to have worked hard on its first tablet device as it boasts of superb technical specifications. Really, the spec list looks stunning for most of its components. It comes with a larger display of 10 inches compared to the iPad's 9.7 inches. Furthermore, the device offers higher resolution of 1200x800 pixels.

Also, the Apple iPad doesn't support 16:9 aspect ratio like the Motorola Xoom. In fact, it even falls short of 720p, making it a much less superior screen for watching video and browsing web pages.

Winner: Motorola XOOM

Processor
There are other advanced features added to the XOOM as well. It is the first tablet device to feature NVIDIA's Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core processor. We'll discuss this functionality in details when we do the review of this device. However, on paper a dual core processor is apparently superior than the iPad's single core.

The Motorola XOOM beats iPad on the RAM count as well. It packs 1GB of RAM, compared to the Apple iPad's 512MB. This imparts a huge boost to the running speed of the device as well.

Camera
On the camera department, the Motorola XOOM has the upper hand too. Whereas, the Apple iPad doesn't include a single camera, the Motorola XOOM comes equipped with two cameras - one on the front and one on the back.

It offers superb camera for the users. The rear-facing main camera comes with a resolution of 5-megapixels, while the one on the front for video calling is 2-megapixels. There is also dual LED flash and autofocus feature available with the device.

We're not sure how you'll feel using a device measuring 250x167mm for a camera though...

Winner: Motorola XOOM

Browser
Apple iPad delights the users with its seamless web browsing experience and it's amazing to use with its desktop-like browser interface.

While using the device, we found that the Safari on the iPad is much better than on the iPhone, although it may not be equally good as one of the third party browsers (such as Opera), which users can always download from the App Store.

However, the Motorola XOOM in no way lags behind the iPad on the browser aspect. In fact it's 'browser is one of its strong points, for sure. The device offers tabbed browsing, widgets for storing your favourite websites on the homescreen and bookmarks. Additionally, it features an incognito tab that allows users to browse without the cookies getting stored on their device. At the same time, it's really faster than the Safari on iPad.
